hay all,

Well I am determined, lol. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine regarding typing speed. Shes note-taker obsessed and claims that she can type much faster wit a braille keyboard than a computer, though she does both all the time. I'm interested to see if there is any conclusive data on this. Which method is faster? I'm including grade 2 for this comparison.

thoughts?

I prefer the qwerty keyboard to the Braille keyboard. I type much faster with the former, about 75-80 words a minute. With the Braille keyboard, it's easier for me to make mistakes because somehow, I accidentally leave out one key and end up with something totally different from what I wanted. I use a braille keyboard regularly on my Braille display for my iPhone, and I just can never manage to press down all the keys for a symbol. I end up making about four or five mistakes when typing an e-mail, just because of that. Qwerty kick's ass!

hmm.. I don't really use my braille note that much anymore. I only use my laptop computer about 95% of the time so I probably type faster on that, but I'm not sure. I'll use my braille note once in a while but i just prefer a computer because you can do a lot more with it and I seem to have less technical issues with it.

it's hard to say what would be faster for me as i've been working with both for so long. the last time i was tested i was a lot more accurate with braille than standard typing, but they may have changed.

yeah, that's right, I make a ton more then that on a braille keyboard though my texts are usually so filled up with mistakes that I must edit for you to even understand what I am typing. or it looks like a mess.

When I was last tested, they said I typed 80 words per minute.
